2023-2024 Curriculum Choices
We are on our fourth year (!!!) of homeschool, and I’m finally getting around to sharing all of our curriculum choices! My boys are 6th, 4th, and 1st grade this year. A big change this year is that we joined a co-op. It’s been a great decision and fit for us. We meet once a week, and I’ll share more about some of their classes below.

And now for 2023-2024…
Math and Language Arts
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. All 3 boys are using The Good and the Beautiful for both Math and Language Arts. I’ve tried venturing away a time or two when I go down a rabbit hole thinking something must be better, but I always come right back. It’s just such a great fit for us, and they have learned so much. I can’t recommend it enough! This is the first year that I decided to print at home with their free PDFs. It was a labor of love, but worth the money I saved! I bought an HP ink tank printer in 2020. If you print a lot, the tank printers are where it’s at!
History
We are studying ancient history this year, and I started the year off using Story of the World. Someone gave me all 4 volumes, so I was happy to have free curriculum! I do really like it, but a few lessons in I felt like we had a big gap and lots of questions about the timelines. Someone at our co-op had an extra copy of Mystery of History, so I decided to get it to check it out! It’s history from a biblical worldview, and it has been so good! I have still read some chapters from SOTW with it, but I am using MOH as our spine now. We also started a timeline notebook, and after each lesson the boys are drawing a picture and writing about what they have learned. I love doing history as a family subject!
Science
My older two are both doing science at our new co-op this year, which has been wonderful! They are using Apologia’s Astronomy course. Their main lessons are in class each week, and they do a little bit of work at home. This is our first year using anything from Apologia, and so far I really like it. My oldest is also in a nature study class at co-op, and we have a monthly nature group that I help lead where we are using lessons from the Nature Guide from Brighter Day Press (you can use the code HANNAHHOMEGROWN for a 10% discount from BDP).
Everything else
My younger two are using the handwriting books from TGTB as well. They have such good electives on top of their solid core curriculum. This year my oldest is using a scripture copywork book from Daily Grace Co. His handwriting is good, so he just needs to keep up with writing versus continue working on form.
My oldest is in a Spanish class at co-op, and he and my middle are both learning it at home using Duolingo. They are also both in a sign language class.
After finishing all three typing books from TGTB, we are trying out Typing.com this year. It’s been a hit! They are really improving, and of course they love the typing games they get to play after a lesson.
We are still using and loving Hoffman Academy for piano lessons. My older two are 60-70 lessons in, and my 6 year old just started lessons. He has been playing the songs his brothers are learning by ear, so I figured it was time for him to learn for real! I put together our own morning time schedule this year since we have done (and LOVED) all 3 volumes of Morning Time from Brighter Day Press (you can use the code HANNAHHOMEGROWN for a 10% discount from BDP). We are reading through the New Testament (Acts-Jude), memorizing scripture, studying various artists and composers, learning Greek and Latin root words using English From The Roots Up, and rotating through a few books. World Watch News has also been a great addition to our mornings. It’s a 10-ish minute daily news program for kids-teens from a biblical worldview. Highly recommend it!!! They end each episode with the reminder: whatever the news, the purpose of the Lord will stand. Amen!
