How Great Is Our God // Kids' Devotion

I am typically on the hunt for things to help my kids know and understand God better. Sitting down and googling “kids devotions” leaves me very overwhelmed because there are so many and I don’t know if they are going to engage my kids or not, or be over their heads. Or (truth) I don’t want them to be boring. That’s why I’m extra excited to share this fantastic devotion with y’all: How Great Is Our God by Louie Giglio.

There are 100 different devotions and each of them ties together science and God in a very fun way! My oldest (almost 8) is especially into this, and I’ve even learned a few things from reading it with my boys (like did you know that there’s a number called duodecillion?! One duodecillion has 40 zeros behind it…WHAT?!). It’s such a practical, tangible way to explain how truly great and amazing God is, and how He created this huge universe but also created our kids each individually and cares deeply about them. Each devotion starts with a verse, then a science fact built into a story, then brings God into the equation with a simple, easy to grasp, but still impactful message.

Here are a few of the different science topics you’ll find in the book (there’s even a guide in the front that tells you the page numbers that have each topic if your child is interested in learning about something specific):

  • Space and time

  • Earth and weather

  • The human body

  • Animals

  • Plants

“With this science devotional, which is based on Giglio's well-known "How Great Is Our God" and “Indescribable” messages, children will embark on a journey to discover more about God and His incredible creation. From the pink lake in Senegal to the earth's trip around the sun to the water-holding frog that can live up to five years without a drink, the wonders of the universe will deepen your kids’ appreciation for God's wild imagination.”
